Ever since I was a little kid, I've enjoyed watching the Olympics. Through the years, my enjoyment has only increased. The Olympics aren't just a collection of sporting events. The Olympics bring together people from all corners of the globe. Athletes may be from countries that are bitter enemies, but at the Olympics they will compete side by side, and they might just learn that their differences aren't as great as they thought. In 1996, I was able to go to the Atlanta Olympics; if you want, you can read about some of my experiences. The ideals of the Olympics might best be summed up in the words of Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games: "The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle.
